Discount Policy

Passengers who travel at a discount MUST PRE-QUALIFY to receive the benefits of a discounted pass. Take the proper eligibility forms to a Ticket Kiosk equipped with a photo station to obtain a Discounted Fare EASY Card and have your photo affixed to the card, or click here to request online (Approximately 5-7 days processing time .)

Senior Citizens 65 Years or Older: ID required

Driver’s License, Birth Certificate, Medicare Card and/or photo ID with birth date.

Obtain a Discounted Fare EASY Card that provides a 50% discount on One-Way, Round-Trip, and Monthly passes; or load EASY Card with cash value and have the price of a discounted One-Way Pass deducted per trip.

Passengers with a valid MDT Golden Passport or Discount Pass EASY Card can load their card with cash value to receive the 50% discount on Tri-Rail fare.

Persons With Disabilities: ID required

Acceptable forms of documentation to present at the Ticket Kiosk include:
• Medicare Card
• Disabled Veterans ID
• Broward County Transit Reduced Fare Photo ID
• Miami-Dade Transit Reduce Fare ID Card
• PalmTran Half Fare ID Card
• Division of the Blind ID
• Letter from Physician Documenting Disability
• Any Paratransit Certification
• Social Security Documentation for Disability Benefits
• Drivers License indicating disability

Tri-Rail’s Service Connected Pass

Veterans with Disabilities can receive a pass to ride Tri-Rail free by presenting their Service Connected Veteran’s Identification Card issued by the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Alternate eligibility forms provided by the VA may be accepted.

Photo ID is required to be presented along with any of the above documentation that does not contain a picture. If you do not have any of the above forms of identification, please print the Discount Fare ID Application and have it completed by a Licensed Physician certifying type of disability. The completed application must then be brought to a Ticket Kiosk equipped with a photo station. Please note that the processing of this request/application may take from 3 to 5 business days.

Passengers with a valid MDT STS Pass EASY Card can load their card with cash value to receive the 50% discount on Tri-Rail fare.

Students: ID required

Acceptable proof of age for students ages 13 – 18 is a Driver’s License, Florida State ID Card or an ID card distributed by a junior or senior high school. For college and vocational students, all IDs must include a photo or be accompanied by photo ID and proof of current eligibility with a letter on school stationery which indicates part-time or full-time status and term dates or a dated registration fee schedule.

Obtain a Discounted Fare EASY Card that provides a 50% discount on One-Way, Round-Trip, and Monthly passes; or load EASY Card with cash value and have the price of a discounted One-Way Pass deducted per trip.

Passengers with a valid MDT School (K-12) EASY Card can load their card with cash value to receive the 50% discount on Tri-Rail fare.

Children

No identification required.

Children under five ride free. Children ages 5-12 can obtain a Discounted Fare EASY Card that provides a 50% discount on One-Way, Round-Trip, and Monthly passes; or load EASY Card with cash value and have the price of a discounted One-Way Pass deducted per trip.

Photo is not required to be affixed on EASY Card for children discount.

Employer Discount Program

Tri-Rail offers employees of participating South Florida businesses a 25% discount on Monthly and 12-Trip passes. Members of the Employer Discount Program (EDP) can obtain an EDP-encoded EASY Card from a designated Ticket Kiosk , and load their EDP passes directly from Tri-Rail’s ticket vending machines located at all stations. Group Discount Information

Groups of 25 or more can receive a 15% discount on Tri-Rail fare when Customer Service is notified at least two weeks prior to departure.
